The partnership of Ricardo Reis International and Elizabeth McConnell Dressage are thrilled to announce the sale of Patusco do Olival to United States Dressage rider Julie Kuliopulos.
Patusco do Olival is a tall, stunning bay 7-year-old Lusitano gelding who competed in the FEI Young Horse classes as a 5-year-old, 6-year-old, and this year as a 7-year-old with scores each year over 70%.
Patusco do Olival (formerly an approved stallion) is by the stallion Habil. Ridden by Portuguese rider Vasco Mira Godinho, Habil won all six of his international starts for 7-year-olds. As an 8-year-old Habil began training under Carl Hester, ridden by Roisin Henry. Henry had great success with Habil, competing in International competitions throughout Europe. Patusco do Olival is poised to follow in his successful sire’s footsteps here in North America.
Julie fell in love with Patusco do Olival after having the opportunity to ride him several times during her recent trip to Portugal. Affectionally calling him Mojo, Julie commented on his sweet and generous character.
“I had such a cool connection with Mojo, and I feel he chose me as much as I chose him. He is a dream come true, and I cannot wait to get him home!”
Julie is in training with Wellington, Florida based International Dressage rider and trainer, Jennifer Williams:
“I’m so thrilled for Julie and incredibly excited to see Patusco join our program. He is a very special horse, and I think they have a wonderful future ahead of them together. It’s a privilege to be a part of Julie’s journey and help support her in reaching her goals.”
As Ricardo Reis and I met and tried Patusco do Olival, it was clear he embodies the essence of the Lusitano horse that we require before recommending a horse to our clients. Finesse, agility, bravery, energy, elasticity, and a constant desire to please his rider, all combined with modern mechanics that allow him to have three good gaits, we are certain he will continue to shine as a competition horse.
Both Ricardo and I wish Julie and her trainer, Jennifer Williams, the very best with “Mojo”!
We work diligently for our clients. While we specialize in the Lusitano breed, we take pride in finding the RIGHT horse, regardless of breed, for our clients. We look forward to working with you in the future!
